Spirituality Centre – Accommodation and kitchen
Harmony, tranquillity and functionality – a building designed with peace and quiet in mind
Investment assumptions:
The aim of the project was to create a facility that fits in with the spiritual character of the place – the Spirituality Centre of the Archdiocese of Częstochowa, "Święta Puszcza" (Holy Forest). The building was to serve as accommodation and kitchen facilities for people participating in retreats and spiritual programmes.
The investor's assumption was that the architectural form should be modest, neutral and harmonious with nature, yet functional, durable and calming.
Design challenges:
- ensuring high acoustic and thermal comfort,
- aesthetic integration with the forest surroundings,
- maintaining functional and hygienic consistency in the kitchen and sanitary areas,
- quick, modular assembly from prefabricated elements, reducing completion time.
Solutions implemented:
- Sandwich panels with mineral wool core (50 dB)
To ensure silence and tranquillity, panels with increased sound insulation of up to 50 dB were used.
This solution proved to be crucial in the context of the building's purpose – soundproofing the interior promotes prayer, reflection and relaxation.
- Food-safe cladding and hygienic coatings
Moisture-, abrasion- and cleaning agent-resistant panels compliant with hygiene standards (food safety) were used in the kitchen and sanitary areas.
This has resulted in a durable, easy-to-maintain usable space.
- Individual colour scheme and texture of materials
Together with the investor, a unique palette of colours and textures was designed to reflect the peaceful, forest character of the place.
The colour of the façade, RAL 7044 – a warm grey with an earthy tone, specially ordered from the steelworks – blends in perfectly with the colours of the trees, bark and forest litter.
- Modular construction – quick assembly, minimal interference
Prefabricated panels enabled efficient assembly while reducing the number of teams and construction stages.
The facility was built quickly, maintaining high quality and minimising disruption to the natural environment.
Effects:
- Acoustic comfort – the interiors provide the silence necessary for concentration and rest, even when fully occupied.
- Consistency with the landscape – the neutral form and colour scheme allow the building to "disappear" into the forest scenery.
- High hygiene and ergonomics – the kitchen and bathroom areas meet all functional and sanitary standards.
- Modern simplicity – the architecture of the building is functional and elegant in its modesty.
